Expired Registration Recovery Policy
As of August 31st, 2013 the ICANN has introduced a new “Expired Registration Recovery Policy” (ERRP). You can find more details about ERRP on ICANN’s website.
Here a few details in accordance to the requirements introduced by the ERRP:
- ICANN Registrars are to send 2 emails to the owner’s email address before a domain name expires
- the first will be sent 1 month before expiration
- the second will be sent 1 week before expiration
- both emails will be sent independently of the domain name status, ie. whether the domain name is to be deleted or not
- within 5 days from any domain name deletion, the registrar is to inform its owner about how to restore the domain name
- these email-notifications will be sent from a neutral email address, in neutral form, in both english and german
- a domain name may be restored after deletion by contacting INET Services (in most cases the operation will be subject to operational handling costs and fees)
